Copenhagen, Denmark

Denmark is a very beautiful Scandinavian country with winning vibes in the city of Copenhagen.

It was my first time to Denmark and I really enjoyed experiencing Scandinavian culture. From Danish pastries to new cocktails. There were huge varieties of Danish pastries available. One of my favourites was the Danish pastry with vanilla custard, multi layered with a crispy and divine finish.

My friend and I bought a Copenhagen card for the weekend! This was great value for money, as it gave us free access to array of attractions from a canal cruise, museums, as well as free transport around the city and airport. We went to the Copenhagen Zoo for an afternoon, it was amazing to see Noel, the Polar Bear who was a pro at backstroke and chilling in the waters. There were also lots of open fires, perfect for keeping warm and toasting marshmallows.

In the evening we met a friend for dinner, walked around the city centre and passed the beautiful Tivoli Gardens and city square. I would highly recommend the Meat Packing District Area, you guessed it an area previously used for packing meat. However, many of the entities have been refurbished into funky bars and restaurants. Our weekend included seeing the famous mermaid statue and Hans Christian Anderson museum.  A curation of my favourite childhood stories from The Little Mermaid, The Princess and The Pea, Ugly Duckling to The Emperor’s New Clothes.

There are many great places to stay in Copenhagen, we ended booking an AirBnB. A beautiful and cosy loft apartment with self-catering facilities. My friend cooked an amazing marble egg omelette and we bought fresh pastries for breakfast, before heading out for our bike ride and canal cruise. I think one of the best ways to get around the city is by bike. It is a huge part of danish life and is great way to see the city in local style. The bike rental shops were dotted all over the city and provided at a very cheap rate. There were separate cycle lanes in Copenhagen with traffic lights. We both felt very safe and able to travel around at our own pace.

I would definitely go and explore more of Copenhagen, perhaps during a summer for the Roskilde festival!
